The greater Gadsden area is one of the most biodiverse areas of the country. Biodiversity is the variety of life in a particular habitat or ecosystem. According to the Nature Conservancy, Alabama ranks 1st for biodiversity in the U.S. in five categories: Freshwater Fishes, Freshwater Mussels, Freshwater Snails,Crayfish and Turtles. There is absolutely no better place in our area to observe this biodiversity than on the waters throughout our community.
